Description
Performs a variety of customer service tasks in the operations of the Park District in a manner that assures an efficient, safe, and clean operation while providing park guests the highest quality service possible.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Winter Rental Operations:
1. Fits cross-country skis, alpine skis, snowboards, boots, and poles and assures that they are properly sized and adjusted.
   ·Assures appropriate rental forms are completely and legibly filled out.
   ·Assures that guests are properly instructed in all operations and settings of rental equipment.
   ·Maintains rental inventories and assures that rental items are properly returned to designated spots.
2. Assists in maintenance and testing of equipment, as requested.
3. Performs a variety of general chalet maintenance functions including snow removal, trash removal, cleaning, and stocking.
4. Assures that the ski corral guests are quickly and efficiently served and ski/snowboard equipment is properly stored in designated spots.
   ·Maintains security of all items in the ski corral.
   ·Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
5. Performs other related duties as apparent or assigned.
 
 


Qualifications
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience
Must be at least 16 years of age.
 
Language Skills
Ability to read and understand documents such as operating procedures, safety and technical manuals, guidelines and regulations.  Ability to write routine reports.  Ability to effectively present information to park guests.
 
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to work with American units of money.
 
Reasoning Ability
Ability to anticipate needs of participants and provide appropriate instruction and assistance.  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple written and verbal instructions.
 
Certificates and Registrations
When assigned to rental operations, must be able to obtain binding certification from manufacturer of inventoried ski and snowboard equipment.
 
Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to be diplomatic and pleasant under stress conditions. Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete a variety of work tasks.  Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with park guests, organizations, and Park District employees. 
 
Physical Demands

Facility/Ski, Snowboard, and Tube Operations:
While performing the duties of this assignment, the employee is required to walk on uneven and snow covered terrain; use hand and arms to handle and manipulate objects, tools, or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to sit, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear.  When loading chairlifts, the employee is regularly exposed to bouncing, jostling, twisting, and turning of upper body.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
 
Facility/Ski, Snowboard, and Tube Operations:
The employee is regularly required to manipulate concessions related equipment.  The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions with regular exposure to cold, often below zero degrees and low wind chill. The employee may be exposed to some risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
 


Selection Procedure
A fully completed Three Rivers Park District Online Application must be received by Human Resources.  Any materials received after the closing date and time will not be considered. Applications will be evaluated on the basis of relevant experience and training. A top group of applicants will be invited to participate in further job screening. 
Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a background investigation including a criminal history search. Costs of the background will be paid for by Three Rivers Park District.
