Description
Performs a variety of customer service tasks in the operations of the Park District in a manner that assures an efficient, safe, and clean operation while providing park guests the highest quality service possible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 Operates chairlifts and rope tows in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Assists in the start-up and shut-down of tows and lifts; performs temporary maintenance functions of lifts and load/unload ramps.
  • Assists guests in the proper and safe loading and unloading of lifts and tows.
  • Maintains ski mazes and assures lift lines are organized and guests are "paired" up to maximize lift capacity.
  • Assists in checking guests for proper lift passes.
Accurately completes all paperwork including daily lift logs, incident reports, etc. 

Assists with upkeep of terrain features, including take-off and landing ramps, proper fencing and signage. 
Performs other related duties as apparent or assigned.


Qualifications
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
 
Education and Experience
At least 18 years of age.
 
Language Skills
Ability to read and understand documents such as operating procedures, safety and technical manuals, guidelines and regulations.  Ability to write routine reports.  Ability to effectively present information to park guests.
 
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to work with American units of money.
 
Reasoning Ability
Ability to anticipate needs of participants and provide appropriate instruction and assistance.  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple written and verbal instructions.
 
Certificates and Registrations
When assigned to operate shuttle vehicle, must have a valid Minnesota Class D driver's license, be at least 18 years of age, and have a clear driving record. 
 
Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to be diplomatic and pleasant under stress conditions. Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete a variety of work tasks.  Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with park guests, organizations, and Park District employees. 
 
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
 
While performing the duties of this assignment, the employee is required to walk on uneven and snow covered terrain; use hand and arms to handle and manipulate objects, tools, or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to sit, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear.  When loading chairlifts, the employee is regularly exposed to bouncing, jostling, twisting, and turning of upper body.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
 
Work Environment
 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, drive belts, blades and gears.  The employee works in outside weather conditions with regular exposure to cold, often below zero degrees and low wind chill. The employee may be exposed to some risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a background investigation including a criminal history search. Costs of the background will be paid for by Three Rivers Park District.
