Part-Time Wedding Coordinator
The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply for a Part-Time Wedding Coordinator role within the Office for Campus Ministry.
This position exists in order to carry out policies surrounding the celebration of weddings at the Chapel of St. Thomas
Aquinas at the University of St. Thomas. It is vital in our ministry to facilitate 60-80 weddings, and their rehearsals, each year involving St. Thomas students, faculty, staff and alum.
- Serve as main point of contact for wedding couples, the wedding party, clergy and vendors on assigned rehearsal and wedding dates
- Coordinate and communicate details regarding the rehearsal and wedding several weeks prior to the wedding date itself
- Attend and direct the rehearsals
- Attend and direct weddings; prepare, coordinate and oversee all events of the day
- Maintain appearance and inventory for the Chapel
- Attend training sessions, formation or other related meetings
- Present a hospitable and professional image of the University
- Other duties as assigned.
This position is a part-time weekend position with a .15 FTE. The summer and fall months are busier than winter and spring due to the nature of desired wedding dates. It is expected that the coordinator will be available to work two weekends per month during the summer and fall months.
This position is not benefits eligible.Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: High school education or equivalent and three years of administrative experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree.
Knowledge of: Roman Catholic Liturgy; applicable regulations, policies and statutes; office administrative practices and procedures; business letter writing and the standard format for typed materials; record keeping principles and practices; correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation; techniques for dealing with the public, in person and over the telephone; cultural differences, intercultural communication and issues of culture conflict.
Skill in: Ability to remain calm in tense situations; ability to make “spur of the moment” problem solving decisions; ability to take initiative; ability to work effectively with minimal supervision; reading and explaining rules, policies and procedures; composing correspondence independently or from brief instructions; using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines; organizing own work, setting priorities and meeting critical deadlines; contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives and activities; strong customer service, conflict resolution and communication skills; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.
