SR. ACTUARIAL ANALYST

Position Description


This position is responsible to support overall pricing strategies for UCare's Commercial products. Develop and enhance actuarial models and reporting for Commercial business. Build new products, product modeling capabilities, benefits, and AV (actuarial value) calculator adjustments. Support Medicare Advantage product line; complete actuarial experience studies, enhance and maintain Medicare Advantage pricing models. Summarize data to support and develop product portfolio recommendations.

 ·Develop, understand and maintain industry knowledge for both individual Commercial and Medicare Advantage products

·Construct and apply actuarial models to solve business questions. Applications include pricing, trend development, and scenario testing

·Collaborate with Corporate Actuary to provide data analysis and support for Commercial rate filings. Coordinate data requests from key stakeholders needed to finalize filing submissions.

·Evaluate and understand AV calculator. Establish methodology for adjusting AV calculator as needed.

·Perform actuarial experience studies for Medicare Advantage products and provide recommendations for improvements to product design.

·Maintain and enhance Medicare Advantage pricing models.

·Participate in Commercial and Medicare Advantage product development cycle, including new product offerings

·Assess competitive landscape, perform competitive analyses and value impact of benefit differentials.

·Support annual budget process for the Commercial products.

·Understand key trend drivers and provide detailed trend analysis.

·Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds. Build/Strengthen relationships with stakeholders and understand how actions impact/influence others.

·Serve as Health Care Economics representative on various ad-hoc work groups. Provide ad-hoc financial analysis as needed.

·Other projects and duties as assigned.

Education

Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Business Degree or related field.

Required Experience

2 years related experience in Actuarial consulting or direct health insurance industry experience.   2-4 Exams Passed and completion of VEE credits.

Preferred Experience

Strong technical skills with SQL and/or SAS.  Health insurance product pricing experience.
