HEALTH CARE ANALYST - QUALITYPosition DescriptionThe position is responsible for analytics and reporting regarding HEDIS, Medicare Stars, and quality of care. Major functional duties include: performing ETL and QA on data sources used for reporting; using HEDIS software to create monthly builds of measure results; providing documentation, QA, and ad hoc analysis in support of the HEDIS Compliance Audit; and developing and maintaining SQL queries of medium complexity to support the data needs of other UCare departments engaged in health quality improvement activities.·Prepare data files for use in HEDIS software. Review and understand file layout specifications; Perform data quality analysis on source files; Use database software to transform data to layout; Identify and resolve issues with final files.·Use HEDIS software to perform monthly and quarterly builds. Load source files; Review data quality reports; Run software processes; Review logs; Troubleshoot performance issues; Perform QA on results; Identify, investigate, and resolve issues.·Assist in the population and maintenance of health quality historical data mart. Extract HEDIS results; Prepare standard reports and analyses; Maintain metadata tables; Implement enhancements to reports and data architecture.·Support the HEDIS/Stars/QRS data submission process and the HEDIS Compliance Audit. Assist with preparation of HEDIS Roadmap; Assist with investigation of data issues; Assist with production and QA of specific data deliverables such as IDSS and PLD files; Perform ad hoc queries as requested by auditor.·Support data needs for initiatives designed to improve member health outcomes. Meet with business owners to define criteria and report layouts; Use SQL to write queries of medium complexity against UCare's Enterprise Data Warehouse; Ensure timely and accurate delivery of reporting and analysis to business owners.·Develop and maintain expertise in the use of UCare's Business Intelligence tools, including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft SQL Management Studio, Business Objects, Mede/Analytics, and other reporting software solutions.·Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in HEDIS measure specifications, Medicare Star Ratings methodologies, Marketplace QRS reporting methodologies, and general methods of statistical data analysis.·Maintain good working relationships with internal and external customers, including staff from Quality Management, Clinical Services, Provider Relations, Information Services, and Health Promotions.·Maintain a thorough understanding of data structure within UCare's internal data systems, including membership, enrollment, claims, providers, and product lines.·Represent the Health Care Economics department in meetings related to specific projects and deliverables.·Other projects and duties as assigned.EducationB.S./B.A. with an emphasis in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Public Health, or another field requiring extensive data analysis. Demonstrated experience in health care analytics, statistical analysis, SQL programming, or HEDIS reporting may be considered in lieu of degree.Required ExperienceTwo years' experience with health care data analysis, database programming (preferably SQL), or HEDIS reporting.Preferred ExperienceDirect experience with administrative data HEDIS reporting preferred.Additional experience with other major areas of health care analytics (risk adjustment, utilization, predictive modelling, etc) a plus.THE UCARE DIFFERENCEUCare is proud to be a recognized Star Tribune Top Workplace for the 7th consecutive year.
