Star Tribune has a new opportunity for a Vice President of Advertising to join our sales team. Collaborating with the Chief Revenue Officer and Vice President of Emerging Media, the Vice President of Advertising Sales will lead all aspects of revenue generation across the advertising division.  S/he will manage key groups to develop and effectively execute strategies that drive new advertising revenue and grow existing base of business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong leadership in competitive market
  • Develop products and/or strategies that enable the division to make its revenue and EBITA goals
  • Effectively and efficiently lead tactical implementation of key department initiatives and special sells
  • Foster strong relationships at decision maker levels with divisions top accounts, agencies and prospects
  • Leads successful utilization of marketing resources to achieve division goals
  • Works with other senior leaders on division training and development efforts
  • Collaborates with HR to hire/onboard/retain top talent for the division
  • Division point person for internal customers in other departments
  • Act as Star Tribune ambassador within industry and market

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years in advertising sales leadership positions with proven track record in developing, planning, and executing successful new initiatives while meeting and exceeding revenue goals
  • Bachelor’s degree in advertising, business, or related field, MBA preferred
  • Successful newspaper and/or media leadership experience
  • Strong digital proficiency
  • P&L management and financial literacy preferred
  • Strategic sales planning experience
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing CRM to achieve business goals
  • Excellent forecasting, budgeting, planning, and personnel management skills
  • Experience leading, training, and developing individuals and teams to realize their full potential
  • Excellent presentation skills
