  • Influence Key Business Decisions
    • Analyze trends and assess the financial health of the business to help with long-term planning, day-to day decisions, and contingency scenarios
    • Provide financial insights and develop a point of view on critical business decisions related to assortment productivity, promotional effectiveness, and profit expansion
    • Identify end-to-end (sales to EBIT) financial impact of inventory decisions
    • Work closely with leaders in Merchandising and Operations to develop and execute business strategies such as actions to grow digital penetration and expand profit
    • Facilitate in-season financial reviews/forecast and analyze variances to plans
    • Develop financial tools to measure performance and address growth and profit opportunities
  • Develop Strategic Plans and Long Range Financial Goals
    • Partner with Merchandising and Strategy teams to develop strong strategic and financial business plans that balance guest, operational, and financial priorities
    • Set financial goals for categories based on external and internal factors and size key strategic building blocks and tactics
    • Facilitate annual and long range financial planning processes across the organization
  • Drive Business Case Development and Assess Investment ROI
    • Develop business cases for investment decisions such as in-store innovations that align with strategic and financial goals
    • Measure and report on investment ROI
    • Work with merchandising and cross functional leaders to deliver on financial targets for new investments
  • Lead Critical Finance Initiatives
    • Partner across broader finance and accounting teams to drive and accelerate business priorities and capture sales and profit opportunities
    • Champion process improvement initiatives across Target's portfolio of businesses


  • 4-year college degree (Accounting, Business, Economics, or Finance)
  • 3-5 years analytical experience, strong analytical aptitude
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage deadlines effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong experience working with spreadsheet applications (Microsoft Excel)
  • MBA/CPA/MA desired
