The Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) at North Dakota State University (NDSU) seeks qualified applicants for a non-tenure track faculty position (9 month) with a title of Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice. We are particularly looking for candidates who can operate effectively in a diverse community of students and faculty and share in our vision of becoming nationally recognized and respected for excellence in engineering education, research, and service to local and regional industries.
The candidate will be expected to teach a broad variety of undergraduate courses in the mechanical engineering curriculum, with a focus in the area of mechanical or thermal design and analysis. The following specialization areas are of particular interest: computer aided design (CAD); finite element analysis (FEA); and supervision of design projects. Candidates in these and related areas are strongly encouraged to apply.
Minimum Qualifications: The candidate must have a BS and MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, with a minimum of eight years of industry experience, or a PhD with four years of industry experience. In addition, the candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to advise undergraduate students, the ability to teach a diverse range of courses, and a willingness to work collaboratively with other faculty and staff in the department.
Preferred Qualifications: A PhD Degree in Mechanical engineering or related field. Licensure as a Professional Engineer. Prior teaching experience in engineering courses.
