LINDQUIST & VENNUM, a large downtown Minneapolis law firm, has an opening for a Communications and Brand Manager.  The Communications and Brand Manager is responsible for developing and implementing internal and external messaging strategies to broaden the impact of the firm’s programs and brand position. He/she will lead the firm's communications programs, including public and media relations, content marketing (including web site content), media buying, advertising design and placement, social media, and the firm’s brand identity program.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Ability to communicate concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing with internal and external contacts in a professional manner.

•Demonstrate professional principles of communication and implement strategies to effectively convey a message.

•Ensure messages are consistent with the overall firm brand and meet company standards to maintain and promote a positive image on behalf of the firm.

•Implement a process that helps the firm think strategically about how to develop a story, drive alignment throughout the firm and share in the marketplace.

•Demonstrate awareness of the press, identify how to develop strong relationships with appropriate media and online influencers, and maintain relationships with those while serving as the firm’s media contact.

•Concept, draft and edit communications materials including news releases, news materials, online content, firm announcements, media pitches, firm publications, legal updates and case studies for both internal and external purposes.

•Ability to use marketing metrics to track campaign successes.

•Develop and execute PR and social media strategies and related campaigns.

•Analyze media coverage for tone, share of voice, impressions, key messages, etc.

•Manage crisis communications.

• Develop and facilitate media training sessions to educate attorneys on best practices.

•Develop and maintain the firm’s "media resource panel" of attorneys capable of speaking to media on industry and legal topics.

• Review individual attorney plans to provide opportunities to assist attorneys with writing and placement of articles in newspapers, business and trade publications and on web pages.

•Manage firm’s social media presence and train attorneys on social media tactics.

•Concept, write, oversee design and place print advertisements.

•Coordinate activities of outside creative and public relations agencies.

•Collaborate with the firm’s attorneys to identify and develop success stories (case studies).

•Develop and maintain website content, including regular updates of firm pages and addition of links to/from site.

•Visualize, construct and post content on the firm’s website that strategically targets a client-based audience.

• Navigate and use the firm’s custom back-end web system for updating attorney bio pages, practice group pages and various firm overview pages.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

•A bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or other related field desirable.

•At least five years of prior experience in a professional environment in editorial production of publications preferred.  Experience working with freelance artists, photographers, and graphic design firms desired.

• Ability to research, write, edit and lay out all forms of publications and use creativity and judgment in the development and production of publications.

•Knowledge of writing, graphics, photocomposition, and color separation is required.

• Knowledge of website content administration is required.

• Previous law firm experience or professional services firm experience desired.

•Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word and Excel) and Adobe InDesign CS5.5.

•Ability to identify and analyze issues and problems and to recommend and implement solutions.

•Knowledge of budget preparation and control necessary.

•Must be able to speak English proficiently.

•Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate by e-mail, telephone and in person to provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.

•Must possess good customer service skills in order to communicate and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of attorneys and staff.  Ability to represent the firm in a favorable and businesslike manner.

•Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.  Must be a team player.
