Medical Receptionist – Front Desk Lead

OB/GYN & Infertility (OGI ) is seeking a qualified individual to assume the Lead position at our Edina office, in addition to performing receptionist duties.  OGI, a division of Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates, focuses on providing comprehensive OB/GYN services throughout all phases of a woman’s life.  Our physicians rely on up-to-date medical and surgical techniques to assure the highest standard of care, and each department plays an integral role in providing quality care to our patients.  Whether in person or by phone, our receptionists are the first line of contact patients have with our clinic. Members of that team must represent our clinic in a friendly, caring and professional manner.    

Lead Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruiting & Staff Training:
    • Monitor staffing needs
    • Interview & hire new staff in conjunction with Supervisor
    • Maintain training materials, oversee training of new employees in conjunction with Supervisor at Edina site
    • Monitor staff on an ongoing basis, keeping them up to date with all appropriate duties and changes 
    • Train new computer systems, phone systems, etc. as needed in conjunction with Supervisor
    • As Front Desk Lead, continue to work and fill in at the FD and/or medical records as needed
  • Reviews & disciplinary:
    • Provide input on Front Desk staff reviews
    • Monitor & document performance issues with staff; discuss with Supervisor and Administrator
    • Address immediate needs of performance issues
  • Supervisory Support Duties:
    • Work with Front Desk Supervisor to implement the “best of the best” practices or procedures
    • Monitor attendance of all Front Desk staff, including tardiness; inform Supervisor of problems
    • Assume role of Front Desk Supervisor in her absence
    • In conjunction with Supervisor, work with supervisory staff from other departments to maintain efficient work flow and communication (Triage, BO, Lab, US)
    • In conjunction with Supervisor, facilitate regular Front Desk Department meetings

Receptionist Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greeting and checking in patients
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Answering multi-line phone
  • Collecting and entering patient demographic information
  • Preparing reports
  • Collecting co-pays


  • High school diploma/GED
  • 2+ years of receptionist experience in a medical office required
  • Ability to work as a team and effectively lead
  • Leadership skills and experience
  • Good communication skills
  • Computer/EMR competency
