The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply for an Assistant Football Coach – Offensive Coordinator.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience coaching college football, with the area of expertise as an Offensive Coordinator.  In addition to coaching an offensive position, the Coordinator must demonstrate the ability to effectively game-plan, breakdown and appropriately evaluate film within a balanced offensive system.  They must effectively coach and teach all schemes to both players as well as coaches (plays, formations, front, coverage, blitz and otherwise) and will be able to run the offense at St. Thomas.  They will also be efficient in practice planning and play-scripting as well as display high concern for proper personnel placement and usage.

It is necessary that the successful candidate will be able to recruit parts of the upper Midwest and some additional locations (including but not limited to) Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois – Chicago area.  Priority will also be given to those with background especially in the following areas: success and extensive knowledge of college recruiting and keen evaluation of personnel, handle necessary AV capabilities and work with alumni relations events as they relate to the program. Must have the ability to work as a part of a cohesive staff and overall knowledge of the daily running of a college football program.

  1. Develop, implement and instruct offensive schemes, offensive game plans, scripts and on- field strategies
  2. Recruitment of student-athletes, including travel
  3. Teaching individual skill development and technique
  4. Organize, administer and demonstrate aspects of team practice
  5. Daily administrative duties for all aspects of the program, specifically alumni relations events
  6. Other duties as assigned by head coach

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant sport experience required. 

Preferred qualifications:  Master’s degree, experience playing and/or coaching and recruiting at the collegiate level, and knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.  

Knowledge of: knowledge of football and the fundamentals, tactics, and strategies of coaching intercollegiate sports; knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; knowledge and familiarity with video editing equipment; Knowledge of safety rules and regulations.  Knowledge of computer applications for recruiting and video exchange breakdown

Skills in:  Must have the skills to communicate and motivate college student-athletes. Strong organizational skills to manage student athletes and operate a highly successful football program.  Strong communication skills.

Abilities: Ability to analyze, interpret, communicate and adhere to the University and the NCAA policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.  Ability to work cooperatively with coaches, staff, faculty, students and members of the community.  Ability and willingness to support the diversity and equity commitments of the department. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds and project a professional manner.
