Director Talent Management - Talent Planning, Performance Management, and COE Integration:Partners with Sr Director Talent Management and HR leadership to build enterprise talent management strategy for Target. This role will create vision and purpose, processes, tools and team to align with corporate strategies and business goals, while simplifying and retiring unproductive systems and processes. This position plays the lead role in working with HR leadership to assess, plan, develop and drive performance of internal talent, ensuring that the organization has a strong performance culture and is prepared with a leadership pipeline required to achieve Target's business objectives.

Job Responsibilities & Qualifications:

• Leads a team that sets, aligns, and drives the organizational talent planning, performance management and Talent COE integration strategies and tools for Target. 

• Works with cross functional business partners to create new enterprise Talent Management strategies and tools.  

• Consults and partners with extensive HR and strategy eco-system to ensure a holistic, prioritized, and integrated talent strategy, roadmap, and work plan that aligns to Target's overall talent and business strategies.

Lead team through strategy, visioning, planning, partnering, creating and recreating and maintaining new strategies for Enterprise Performance Management and Talent Planning:

• Talent Strategy

• Partner with Sr Director to develop enterprise talent management strategy, roadmap, and operational plan to ensure talent capabilities are in place to enable business growth

• Consult with HR and business leaders to understand talent needs and identify solutions to meet those needs

• Research latest developments in succession, potential, performance, and organizational development to inform future strategies and serve as a subject matter expert

• Performance Management

• Team will research, study, define, propose and roll out, manage, and adjust an integrated Performance Management philosophy, tools and supporting resources.

• Create and supports training, insights, and measurements to ensure sustainability throughout the enterprise

• Partners extensively with enterprise strategy and compensation to ensure holistic strategy and aligned components to enable performance driven culture

• Owns and refines the systems and resources to align

• Talent Planning

• Team will research, study, define, propose and roll out, manage and adjust integrated Talent Planning philosophy, tools and supporting resources.

• Creates and support training, insights, and measurements, to ensure sustainability throughout the enterprise

• Designs and analyzes the organizational talent review practice to identify and retain top talent, facilitate movement and development of talent, and build a diverse leadership bench

• Enable the creation and understanding of key talent pools (hi potentials, diverse, critical role successors): actively monitor engagement and development and drive internal movement using succession and development plans as guides

• Owns and refine the systems and resources to align

• Talent COE Integration

• Provide insights to HR COEs and generalist teams to inform broader talent strategies (e.g. acquisition, retention, development)

• Work across Talent management, Planning and Delivery, and COE partners to develop and deliver integrated roadmap, key priorities, and compelling communications for leader and generalist stakeholders to operationalize agenda


• Bachelor's degree and 10+ years in Human Resources, Talent Management or related field

• Creative and strategic thinking skills and the ability to turn strategy into practical tools and simple processes

• Complex project management experience working across enterprise or multiple functions with competing agendas

• Proven track record of leading and influencing, exceptional collaboration, relationship, and consultation skills with demonstrated success building partnerships at all organizational levels

• Strong team leadership and ability to develop a high performing team

• Experience training and facilitating groups with strong presence and ability to communicate clearly and effectively

• Change orientation and willingness to flex approach and navigate ambiguity based on dynamic needs of leadership and business

• Experience using talent analytics and building business cases to drive decision making

• Experience in program / process design with a process improvement mindset

• Experience leading operating model work strongly preferred
