JOIN US AS A DIRECTOR DATA ENGINEERINGWith millions of store and online guests daily, Target is a leading presence in the Omni channel effort, with over 1,800 stores, 38 distribution centers and a strong online presence.  As a Director of Data Engineering, you will deliver and lead a nimble team, immersed in DevOps practices, focused on innovative, scalable, stable solutions for our big data enterprise platform and product team, with potential to deliver far-reaching impact across the company. You will center on Target's internal customer(s) to learn about their world, understand their value equation(s) and then service as the voice of the customer as you define and deliver iterative and testable solutions to accelerate the value of Target's massive data assets.   Join Target's Enterprise Data, Analytics and Business Intelligence Team that combines the freedom and agility of a startup with the security and resources of a large established company.
  • Provide technical oversight and coaching to others for resolving complex and severe technical issues
  • Service as voice of customer and provide end user training, live demos and support
  • Manage operations of the complete bigData ecosystem (Hadoop, Storm, Spark, ELK, Druid, etc)
  • Generate and use instrumentation and metrics to enable data-driven decision making, improve operational efficiency and performance.
  • 8-10 years' experience in developing software applications including: analysis, design, coding, testing, deploying and supporting of applications
  • BS degree in Computer Science
  • Proficient in application/software architecture (Definition, Business Process Modeling, etc.)
  • Collaborative personality, able to engage in interactive discussions with the rest of the team
  • Inquisitive on Big Data technology; current on new ideas and tools
  • Good understanding of the Hadoop ecosystem and low level constructs
  • Experience with end-to-end software development processes and practices agile/scrum experience preferred)
  • Handle escalations and communicate with users and partners
  • Collaborate with teams and partners to improve the overall operational maturity of Big Data ecosystem
  • MS degree in Computer Science
  • Ability to work with technical and business-oriented teams
  • Experience building Big Data solutions using Hadoop and/or NoSQL technology
  • Ability to work with non-technical resources on the team to translate data needs into Big Data solutions using the appropriate tools
  • Experience working with very large data sets, knows how to build programs that leverage the parallel capabilities of Hadoop and MPP platforms
  • Experience designing and delivering services-based solutions on Hadoop
