Pet Care Specialist (Pet Sitter / Dog Walker)
DESCRIPTION: Professional Pet Sitting offers pet owners a personalized, flexible and safe alternative to boarding, kenneling or calling upon family or friends to care for their pets. A Pet Care Specialist (PCS) will provide dog walking or in-home pet sitting services to primarily dogs and cats, but may also care for other animals such as birds, cage pets, farm animals or fish.
REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, have a flexible schedule, reliable transportation, and be available year-round (this is NOT a seasonal position). A full background check will be performed prior to hire.
POSITION: Pet Care Specialist
Status: Part-Time, Contractor.
Duties: Pet Sitting and/or Dog Walking (see Job Description below).
Client Locations: Including, but not limited to: Lino Lakes, Blaine, Columbus, Circle Pines, Centerville, Hugo, Shoreview, North Oaks and Vadnais Heights. Note: The ideal candidate will reside in (or live near) one of these areas.
Shifts: Morning, midday and evening shifts available, including weekends. The ideal candidate will be available for two shifts (i.e. morning/midday, midday/evening or morning/evening). Note: Immediate need for morning/midday shift (4-5 days a week), including occasional evenings and weekends.
Compensation: $11.00 per 30-minute visit.
~ The Pet Care Specialist (PCS) assignments take place seven days a week and may occur during mornings (no earlier than 7AM), middays or evenings (no later than 8PM).
~ The PCS must be a true pet lover, dependable, responsible, reliable, trustworthy, professional and comfortable interacting with pet owners and the general public.
~ Pet Sitting Visits are primarily performed for clients on vacation or traveling for business. Visits are typically 30-40 minutes in length and often occur at roughly the same time each day to keep continuity for the pets. For example, most cat sitting assignments consist of one visit per day, while dog sitting assignments can range from 2-4 visits per day.
~ Dog Walking occurs within a 2 to 3-hour window of time during midday or evening hours. Dog walks range in length from 20-30-minutes. On occasion, the PCS may only have one walk scheduled in a day.
~ The PCS must be willing to consider all types, lengths and frequency of assignments.
~ The PCS must have reliable transportation with appropriate automobile insurance coverages. Assignments will typically be within a 10-mile radius of the PCS place of residence.
~ During a Pet Sitting assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, feeding pets, providing TLC and playtime, cleaning up any messes and scooping litter boxes or disposing of waste. Mail and newspaper retrieval, setting out trash cans, rotating lights and blind/curtains, along with light houseplant watering may also be part of the job duties if requested by the client.
~ During a Dog Walking assignment, The PCS will walk/exercise dogs, ensuring potty breaks occur. Moderately good physical condition is required as the PCS will be walking dogs during a variety of weather conditions. Other duties may include refreshing water, wiping paws and giving treats. The PCS will only walk multiple dogs if they are from the same family. The PCS must have access to rain/snow gear and feel comfortable driving/walking in the same. Occasionally clients are home ill or working from home. The PCS must be comfortable performing the job in these situations.
~ The PCS will be required to leave visit notes following each visit/dog walk. The PCS must have access to a personal cell phone.
~ The PCS must be comfortable holding keys to a client's home while on assignment and take responsibility to not misplace keys.
~ The PCS may be required to attend new client consultations (with business owner) and also may be asked to fill in for other team members that are unable to complete an assignment.
~ The PCS will often be required to check in with the business owner to confirm all duties have been completed to the client's specifications.
