To provide approved golf instruction to junior group lesson participants in a manner that will result in high quality experiences for park guests and is consistent with Three Rivers Park District policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conducts lessons in accordance with established lesson plans and approved golf instruction methods and techniques. 
nsures lesson fees have been prepaid by participants and records class attendance.

Maintains accurate records in lesson scheduling system.

Provides work direction to seasonal employees and volunteers, and assists supervisor in training of seasonal employees and volunteers, as assigned

Courteously greets park guests and ensures that questions are properly answered or referred.

Assists with special events as assigned.Maintains a safe environment for learning. Performs other related duties as apparent or assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma/GED. Some experience assisting or teaching junior group golf lessons required.  Must have some knowledge of the game of golf. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to communicate with park guests, and Park District Staff in a positive, friendly manner both orally and in written form. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to present information and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

 MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.  Ability to create, organize, and maintain accurate records and follow prescribed cash handling procedures.

 REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations addressing customer service matters.

 OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Thorough working knowledge of the principles, rules and terminology of golf.  Ability to analyze, assess, and advise proper golf techniques and procedures with lesson participants. Demonstrated experience and/or working knowledge in operation of recreation facilities and/or programs.  Ability to coordinate personnel and programs. Ability to work under minimum supervision.  Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the general public and Park District staff and conduct self in a manner that will reflect and enhance the image of the Park District.  Ability to be diplomatic and pleasant under stressful conditions.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are represen­tative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk on uneven and rough terrain as well as paved and unpaved trails, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, swing a golf club, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk.  The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, and smell.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

 WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


Selection Procedure

 Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a background investigation including a criminal history search. Costs of the background will be paid for by Three Rivers Park District.
