Reports To: Mortgage Loan Processing Manager

As a Mortgage Loan Processor, you will be challenged to take loan files from pre-approval to closing. This includes inputting the loan information into the system, while ensuring that it is complete, accurate, verified and complies with company policy. You will also verify loan documents, including income credit appraisal and title insurance to ultimately prepare application for submittal to underwriting. Successful candidates will have a proven ability to meet crucial deadlines.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the proper documentation of various forms of real estate loans; build and expand an expertise in understanding loan terms and structures
  • Prepare commercial and consumer real estate loan documentation while maintaining compliance with ever-changing rules and regulations; perform research and procedures thoroughly in order to accurately process loans in a timely manner for closings by loan officers
  • Complete all requirements to perfect collateral securing loans
  • Prepare new loan files and existing files for scanning
  • Complete loan process by funding loans once signed, completing all general ledger entries and sending necessary documents to loan operations or secondary market investors
  • Establish and maintain effective business and working relations with loan officers and other bank staff
  • Help to promote a positive work environment in the department by working as a team with department to ensure all areas are covered and all loans are done in a timely manner while maintaining a positive attitude and concern for other processors
  • Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned

Experience & Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED is required
  • A college degree is preferred
  • Minimum of two years prior loan experience in a financial institution or loan-related field

Technical Skills & Abilities

  • Familiarity with Encompass loan processing software is a plus
  • An intermediate level of computer proficiency and literacy
  • Must type at least 40 wpm accurately
  • Basic math skills required
  • Dependability, adaptability, drive and initiative are essential
  • Solid internal/external customer service abilities and communication skills
  • Able to make decisions on your own, while working as a team
  • Ability to take instructions from a number of people
