Responsibilities: Summary

Item Development Coordinators assist Test Development staff members (Directors, Senior Test Development Specialists, Managers, Project Leads, etc.) by providing support to the entire item and test development process, including administrative support as needed.  They perform a variety of tasks, including but not limited to, the following:  organizing and maintaining database item authoring files and item bank files, creating and monitoring directory of specifications, checking facts, researching to ensure accuracy of test content, cross-referencing data, verifying answer keys, overseeing the flow of items, finding passages and finding stimulus prompts, preparing materials for committee reviews, summarizing committee review comments, and/or other assigned tasks needed to support the item and test development process.



Position Responsibilities


  • Serves as a general resource for the Test Development department, including maintaining content-area specific department files as needed
  • Plans, coordinates, and initiates content-team specific activities for development programs
  • Assists in drafting, finalizing, and coordinating the reviews of portions of publications, proposals, test development department content-specific materials, etc.
  • Obtains and presents information, prepares summary reports, and otherwise assists content teams or other areas within the test development department as directed
  • As needed, performs key entry into databases and item-banking systems
  • Uses item-banking system and related tools; maintains item banks correctly
  • Supports the item and test development process, including, but not limited to, the following: writing, reviewing, and revising items
  • Verifies and checks answer keys; does fact checking
  • Proofs items and tests, including ancillaries, for accuracy and style
  • Supports passage and prompt finding; runs readabilities (English language arts and reading team only)
  • Prepares materials for committee reviews and client reviews
  • Other duties as assigned






    Qualifications: Qualifications

  • Associates degree or an equivalent combination education and/or experience required or BS degree in education or related field
  • Organizational skills
  • Experience working as a team member
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to solve problems and find solutions to complex issues
  • Ability to coordinate multiple, complex activities
  • Ability to adjust to changing circumstances and direction as required
  • Proficient with MSOffice, Word, Excel, Internet, and e-mail systems
  • Willingness to learn new computer programs and devices, as needed


  • General knowledge of test publishing industry standards
  • Knowledge of item-banking/item authoring technology
  • Knowledge of editorial, style, and publication guidelines
  • knowledge of desk top publishing
  • Knowledge of databases

    Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hour periods of time
  • Ability to look at a computer monitor, utilize a keyboard and/or mouse for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as necessary
