Responsibilities: The Test Development Technologies Specialist works with the Director of Test Development Technologies and others to support the use and enhancement of DRC's Item Development and Educational Assessment System (IDEAS) and other technologies needed for statewide testing programs.  He or she works with other staff in Test Development, as well as other functional units, to provide training, problem resolution, and documentation in the use of IDEAS and other technologies; determines process workflow throughout all stages of the item and test development process; and develops quality control procedures and processes for all steps in the process. He or she also provides and/or participates in discussions concerning the requirements and enhancements for developing IDEAS.

  • Provides support to the training of test development staff in the use of IDEAS and other technologies
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of training materials
  • Provides support in solving issues related to IDEAS and other technologies and documenting the resolutions
  • Provides support in documenting and maintaining the processes and flow for the use of IDEAS.
  • Provides support to the maintenance of item and passage upload templates and to the upload of items from templates into IDEAS
  • Works to support Test Development content and Support Services staff in their use of IDEAS and other technologies
  • Works with outside consultants, as needed
  • Provides support to quality control efforts
  • Assists in the development and use of forms and their components including online directions and tools
  • Provides secondary liaison with other DRC functional groups as it relates to the use of IDEAS
  • Works continually to streamline the IDEAS process in order to improve efficiency, productivity, consistency, and ease of use
  • Continually increases a working knowledge of IDEAS and other technologies
  • Assists in maintaining the IDEAS issues log
 

Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of and advanced understanding of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to problem-solve and provide solutions to complex issues
  • Organization skills, including working on and prioritizing multiple concurrent projects
  • Ability to adjust to changing circumstances and direction as required
  • Customer service attitude - willingness to coach a system user through a problem
  • Written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex concepts easily
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Willingness to perform routine tasks
 

PREFERRED:

  • Advanced computer skills including programming, database development, electronic publishing
  • Experience in working with Adobe Acrobat and Snag-It
  • Working knowledge of HTML, XML, XPP, etc.
  • Knowledge of all steps in the item and test development process
