The Gift Registry team is quickly replacing each piece of the current technology stack with new microservice architecture with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) to our cloud platform. We are looking for a creative and motivated engineer who can both lead and implement, is eager to learn, and wants to help build the culture, practice, and craft of DevOps and Agile at Target.  The key to the success of this position is ability to work well with others regardless of their level or background, solid engineering expertise, collaboration, and a self-motivated working style.

What You Will Be Doing

  • A member of the Gift Registry team focused on helping teams develop better software focusing on Automation, Monitoring, Performance, Deployment, and Configuration Management.
  • You'll be in the vanguard of Target's DevOps transformation working with product teams across Target in our collaborative work space. (not just standups)
  • Participate in Agile Sprints in creating services to enable automated builds of predictable, high-quality infrastructure.
  • Build and continuously improve reference applications to make it easier for product teams to deliver reactive applications fast.
  • You'll actively use Agile methods with the team to manage WIP, flow, and prioritization of work.
  • You'll be hands on with the latest technologies to develop cloud native applications
  • You will engage with local and global teams to help mature our test-driven development practices and to leverage principles rooted in continuous integration and delivery.
  • You'll be hands on with tools: Git/Github, Chef, Spinnaker, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Artifactory, HipChat, OpenStack, VMWare, and Open Source software to build automated testing and delivery pipelines
  • You will engage with local and global teams to help mature our test-driven development practices and to leverage principles rooted in continuous integration and delivery.

Desired Experience

  • Linux/Unix administration
  • Experience with JavaScript, or other common scripting languages
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Able to design CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Drone, Spinnaker, Gradle, or equivalent
  • Eager to play with variety of open source technologies and cloud services
  • Basic understanding of how HTTP request flows through various network topologies
  • Knowledge of IT operation best practices in a highly available service
  • Quick learner on open source technology and attitude to “make it happen”
Requirements
  • BA/BS or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years total work experience
  • Has in-depth knowledge of state-of-the art engineering technical approaches in design, build, testing, debugging problems as required by domain
  • Maintains technical knowledge within areas of expertise
  • Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education
