Responsible for performing a variety of customer service tasks, including preparing and delivering coffee and other beverage and food items, to park guests in an efficient, safe and clean manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Café Operations:
1. Prepares and serves coffee drinks, assorted beverages and food products that are tasteful and pleasing to guests.
  • Stores, prepares, and serves food products and refreshments in a manner that meets all local and state health code requirements as well as facility rules and guidelines.
  • Maintains food storage areas in a clean and safe manner.
2. Routinely cleans, sanitizes and stocks café and café equipment.
3. Ensures appropriate disposal of all waste products and adheres to park recycling and composting program for food services.
4. Assists in the inventory of supplies/products on hand at the end of each day.
5. Performs other related duties as apparent or assigned.
Facility Operations:
1. Greets park patrons at assigned location and provides information on facilities and programs.
2. Sells daily consignment items and merchandise.
3. Rents recreation equipment where applicable (i.e. Boat Rentals May-September)
4. Follows prescribed cash handling and daily record keeping procedures and completes necessary forms, as assigned.
5. Keeps work area/equipment clean, orderly and free from hazards.
6. Perform other related duties as apparent or assigned.


Education and Experience
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Language Skills
Ability to read and understand documents such as operating procedures, safety and technical manuals, guidelines and regulations.  Ability to effectively present information to park guests.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to work with American units of money.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to anticipate needs of participants and provide appropriate instruction and assistance.  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple written and verbal instructions.
Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to be diplomatic and pleasant under stress conditions. Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete a variety of work tasks.  Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with park guests, organizations, and Park District employees. 
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this assignment, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk, hear, taste, or smell.  The employee frequently is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to stoop or crouch and occasionally to kneel.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift/or move up 50 pounds.
Work Environment
The employee regularly works with commercial food preparation equipment with related exposure to hot grease, grills, cookers, food warmers, beverage dispensers, refrigerators, freezers and a variety of electrical appliances with potential to electric shock, cooking fumes and odors and hot grease.  The noise level in the work place is usually moderate.

Selection Procedure
A fully completed Three Rivers Park District Online Application must be received by Human Resources. This position is open until filled. Applications will be evaluated on the basis of relevant experience and training. A top group of applicants will be invited to participate in further job screening. 
Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a background investigation including a criminal history search. Costs of the background will be paid for by Three Rivers Park District.
