Description
Greets park patrons and hosts large group events such as weddings, company picnics, and family reunions.  Performs a variety of customer service tasks in the operation of large group rental facilities that assures efficient, safe, and clean operation while providing park guests the highest quality service possible.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Greets guests of large groups reserving the pavilions at Historic Murphy's Landing, Gale Woods Farm, Elm Creek Chalet or other rental sites at assigned location and provides information on guest use of facility. Maintains basic services at the Pavilion during events including adjusting the sound system and lighting, replacing garbage and recycling bags as they fill, replacing soap or paper products in bathroom facilities, and cleaning up minor spills. Monitors large group activities in relationship to other site activities of the day and acts as liaison between staff and public involved in these site activities and the guests at the Pavilion. Contacts park supervisor, maintenance, public safety, or program staff regarding resolution of any "day of" issues or requests involving the rental group. Rents recreation equipment where applicable. Keeps work area/equipment clean, orderly and free from hazards.


Qualifications
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
 
Education and Experience
High school graduation or Graduate Equivalency Degree (GED), plus at least one year of responsible customer service experience required.  Two years of post-secondary education/training or two years of responsible customer service experience preferred.
 
Language Skills
Ability to communicate with park guests, supervisors, and co-workers in a positive, friendly manner both orally and in written form. Ability to use correct grammar, spelling and punctuation and effective oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated strong customer service and professional telephone skills.  Ability to read and understand operating, safety and procedure manuals, written instructions and product labeling.
 
Interpersonal Skills
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the general public and Park District staff and conduct self in a professional and enthusiastic manner.  Ability to be diplomatic and pleasant under stressful conditions. 
 
Mathematical Skills
Ability to perform basic math computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.  Ability to use a calculator.
 
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense thinking to solve routine procedural problems by applying simple learned responses.
 
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate computers and cash registers, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.  The employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, balance, stoop, crouch, twist, and bend.  The employee also must occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally 50 pounds.
 
Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to work under minimum supervision.
