Duties:
Mechanical Engineering responsibilities include:
  • Design of heavy electro-mechanical machinery
  • Maintain calculations and design records for assigned projects
  • Assist in development and design philosophy for assigned projects
  • Monitor QA program for shop assemblies and field installation
  • Component selection and purchasing
  • Project commissioning
In the Project Group special assignments may include:
  • Actively participate in design reviews with both internal and external team members
  • Interface with other departments to coordinate mechanical systems with structural and electrical systems
  • Visit manufacturing/vendor sites to inspect and test components and assemblies
  • Design, execute and document prototype testing procedures to validate new designs
Support Company's Sales & Marketing Efforts:
  • Provide technical and media support for O&M documentation, including manual reviews, technical documentation, and visual materials
  • Write articles for magazines and technical journals

Requirements:
    Education:
  • Bachelors in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred
    Experience:
  • 3+ years’ experience in mechanical systems design
  • Candidate must have experience with or a thorough understanding of drive systems components including chains, belts, cables, electric motors, gearboxes, linkages, jackscrew, bearings, wheels, hydraulics
  • Experience with 3D modeling and Finite Element Analysis software. SolidWorks, SolidWorks Simulation FEA, AutoCAD and MathCAD experience preferred
  • Must be proficient in documentation of calculations and solutions to technical problems
  • Hands-on experience in an industrial machinery or manufacturing environment is desirable
    Knowledge:
  • Knowledge in hydraulic motors, pumps, accumulators and actuators is preferred
  • Knowledge of fabrication techniques and machine shop experience beneficial
  • Demonstrated technical leadership within product development and engineering
    Skills and Abilities:
  • Superior interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal for internal reviews and client presentations
  • Must be able to work efficiently on a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to work independently to make decisions and report progress as required
  • Desire to solve unique and challenging mechanical design problems including machine design, structural dynamics/statics, and related integration activities
  • Creative and alternative thinking to develop new ideas and solutions for design problems
  • Ability and desire to learn new skill sets
  • Strong ability to multitask
  • Travel may be necessary during certain phases of large projects
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship for employment visa.
