Doherty Career Solutions has teamed with a local company in search of a Buyer/Planner for their Sauk Rapids location. This is a Direct Hire opportunity with initial screening by Doherty. The Buyer/Planner is responsible for company purchasing activities and will research, evaluate and buy products for the company to either resell to customers or use in everyday operations.
•Order materials as specified in the Engineered Bill of Materials for just in time delivery.
•Review and select suppliers based on their technical capabilities, capacities, service, lead-times, product quality and cost.
•Assist Estimating with price quotes on special order items based on Engineering specifications, drawings and other technical and quality requirements to ensure order accuracy.
•Keep Inventory levels at the lowest possible value without jeopardizing production time. Ensure that all outside services received is entered into the ERP System along with inbound freight costs.
•Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors and others to determine root cause and takes corrective action.
•Monitor supplier performance. Resolves quality defects of vendor supplied goods through the Supplier Corrective Action Reporting (SCAR).
• Prepares purchase orders or bid requests (RFQ's) as needed to meet customer needs and expectations. Expedites orders and requests as needed.
•Negotiates outside service costs for estimating and jobs that are in process.
•Ensure material purchased and received meet delivery and specifications. Identify improvement and enhancements in purchasing policies, processes and procedures. Present recommendations to management and lead the implementation of approved changes.
•2 Year Associates Degree in related field; Bachelor degree preferred
•Minimum of 3 years' experience purchasing in a manufacturing environment
•Experience in activities related to production planning
•ERP system experience, Epicor preferred
•Skilled at holding off price increases
•Conflict management and Negotiation skills.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team
•Organization and planning skills; ability to perform and prioritize a variety of analytical task with minimal supervisor
•Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Office, Outlook, and ERP systems
