Tenure Track - Assistant/Associate Professor - Early Childhood Special Education
The College of Education, Leadership and Counseling at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis Minnesota invites applications for a faculty position at the assistant/associate level in the Department of Teacher Education in the area of Early Childhood Special Education beginning in September of 2017.
The person selected will teach, supervise and advise graduate students in programs that lead to a state license in ECSE and an MA degree. S/he will have primary responsibility for teaching methodology courses in ECSE (Birth-6) and supervising clinical practice experiences in ECSE but may also teach/supervise in other special education areas as needed programmatically.Qualifications:
Required qualifications: Earned doctorate in ECSE/closely aligned area (or evidence that it will be completed by 12/31/17); experience and expertise providing evidence-based instructional practices for infants, toddlers, and young children with special needs and their families in home, school and community settings; demonstrated excellence in teaching in higher education; demonstrated ability to build networks and relationships with school communities in diverse urban settings ; strong content knowledge of early/childhood/special education and early intervention standards, recommended practices, and trends in the field; scholarly research agenda. It is also required that the successful candidate have at least one year as an instructor of record in an ECSE environment.
Preferred qualifications: Stronger candidates will have records of many of the following experiences and areas of expertise: expertise in effective early childhood inclusion practices and procedures; experience with and knowledge of family-centered approaches to planning, implementing and evaluating service delivery programs across students ages birth to 6 ; proficiency in working with diverse populations and a broad range of disabilities; program leadership: experience with alternative course delivery systems and online instruction; experience with university assessment systems and meeting accreditation standards; understanding of local, state, and national ECSE/EI workforce needs and experience with marketing and recruitment for ECSE programs; a record of securing external funds and coordinating grant-related activities.
