This role supports the Marketing and Communication goals of the Destination Medical Center (DMC) non-profit Economic Development Agency (EDA). The DMC EDA assists the Destination Medical Center Corporation (DMCC) in planning and executing the DMC Development Plan (a 20-year business plan) and adopted strategies for economic development in Rochester, MN. The DMC EDA consists of an experienced team of professionals who provide services and functions required to execute a comprehensive strategy to manage $585 million of public investment and leverage that investment with the goal of attracting over $5 billion in private investment to the market. This position reports directly to the DMC EDA Executive Director.

General Responsibilities:

  • Foster collaboration and gain local, regional, state, national and international support for the DMC and its strategies.
  • Manage marketing, communications and public relations contract services
  • Develop and coordinate implementation of marketing and communications policies and plans
  • Guide the strategic and consistent use of media, events and public relations opportunities


  • Develop and manage a comprehensive annual Marketing plan including success metrics
  • Oversee the development of all organizational collateral to ensure brand consistency and appropriate messaging
  • Work with team to prepare and coordinate marketing event logistics and materials
  • Develop and coordinate potential DMC sub-district brand programs


  • Develop, implement and manage DMC strategic communication plans
  • Coordinate and lead communication strategies with local, regional and state stakeholders
  • Serve as media contact and spokesperson for DMC
  • Coordinate requests with Mayo Clinic Public Affairs such as Mayo Clinic tours, visits, media and speaking engagements when appropriate
  • Ensure messaging and brand consistency across communication vehicles including the website, email and publications


  • Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing or related field
  • 5 – 7 years of experience in marketing and communications
  • Experience in creating or managing marketing and communications strategies
  • Detail oriented with the ability to manage a schedule of multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with various groups and stakeholders
  • Ability to work with the media
  • Ability to build relationships with partner organizations
  • Ability to build strategy, implement detailed tactics and manage projects
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours
  • Facilitation experience to move ideas toward implementation
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Management experience of team and contractors
