Humera is looking to fill a position for a Transportation Professional Assistant for our client currently in Hopkins, MN. This position will be moving to their Wayzata office in April.
Duties:
  • The Transportation Professional Assistant is responsible for tracking delayed railcar shipments.
  • Following up with railroads on status of delays and then communicating the status of those delays to businesses.
  • Address incoming emails asking for status on railcars and again would be contacting railroads for updates and communicate back to the business.
  • Monitoring reports within our tracking system and addressing issues within that meaning making updates within the system as well as again contacting railroads for clarification on the issues.
  • The position provides an opportunity to develop transportation skills and gain exposure to various business units and product lines.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
-60% Monitor and analyze status of railcar shipments to facilitate empty deployments and ensure timely movement of both loaded and empty cars. Follow up on delays, work with railroads to resolve shipment exceptions, and handle inbound rail inquiries accordingly.
-10% Maintain E-Tracker shipment tracing system and other databases to reflect accurate car movement history.
-10% Back-up and assist other Rail Transportation Professionals as required.
-10% Coordinate railcar maintenance; repairs, cleaning, compliance and off-hire activities.
-10% Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Associates degree (preferably in business, logistics, transportation , supply chain or a related degree)
  • One year of logistics / transportation experience; rail experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a proven self starter.
  • Sound decision making skills in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Professional presentation of self and company.
    Schedule:
    M- F 8 AM-4:30 PM with some potential for OT
