Doherty Career Solutions is currently sourcing for a Strategic Account Manager for a large contract manufacturing company. The Strategic Account Manager will be responsible for leading all commercial activities and ensuring the organization follows through on all critical success factors related to assigned Strategic Accounts. This will include relationship building with key decision makers, identifying account key requirements to succeed and monitoring organizational performance, identifying customer trends and strategic direction, sales growth and the development of a long term account plan.


  • Establish productive, professional relationships with key customer personnel at all levels and all in functional groups. Facilitate building relationships between Company and customer executives.
  • Coordinate the engagement of personnel including engineering, customer service, and program management resources in order to meet account performance objectives and customer expectations.
  • Meet assigned targets for profitable sales volume and annual strategic objectives.
  • Proactively lead a joint company-strategic account planning process that develops mutual performance objectives, financial targets, and critical milestones for a one and three-year period.
  • Responsible for follow up and communication with team members on account plan progress including activities, resource needs and support issues, goal performance, sales growth, profitability, etc.
  • Proactively assess, clarify, and validate customer needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Lead solution development efforts that best address customer needs while coordinating the involvement of all necessary company personnel.
  • Create sales proposals, lead negotiation and secure approvals for supply agreements.
  • In cooperation with the Business Development team, develop and qualify Strategic Account prospects and assist in creation of account capture plans for target accounts.
  • Facilitate the use of Customer Relationships Management Tool (CRMT) for the use of quoting, forecasting, customer interactions and customer complaints/corrective actions, and communicate as appropriate to company personnel.
  • Responsible for coordinating and monitoring Critical Success Factor support activities.
  • Ensure that the entire organization, including the executive teams, has a comprehensive understanding of factors influencing the industry.
  • Make industry presentations that promote the company's products and services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University. MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of business development (hunter) / sales experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior sales experience in contract manufacturing and developing large key accounts.
  • Proven ability to identify business opportunities and develop appropriate strategies and relationships that deliver sales results within key target markets.
  • Experience working on complex, sophisticated and global contracts.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, influencing and presentation skills, with the ability to interact with key decision makers at all levels of customer accounts and internal management.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to see the big picture.
  • Must be able to travel approximately 25% to 50% of the time.
