Position Description

This position is responsible to develop and execute required member and prospect communications that meet business and organizational goals across health insurance products. Also responsible for technical writing, editing and quality assurance on regulatory agency model materials and other important member and prospect resources enhancing understanding of health care benefits. In addition, assist with proofreading of marketing communications.

·Write technical content, and coordinate the editing, development (including formatting), quality assurance and production of member/potential member models and required materials including:

o    network directories

o    formularies (drug lists) and other pharmacy change notices

o    prior authorization information

o    member ID cards

o    enrollment and consent forms

o    required notifications, scripts, automated calls and digital notices

o    privacy notices and other legal communications

·Serve as an editorial resource to other departments on model and required forms, books, scripts and other communication touchpoints.

·Ensure all required Medicare, Medicaid and individual and family commercial plan communications are developed and delivered in accordance with regulatory and monthly deadlines.

·Adhere to the Member Materials process map, UCare Writing Style, and Flesch-Kincaid readability standards.

·Proofread marketing and communications output for accuracy.

·As needed, assist team members with traffic management of communications.

·As needed, develop communications that meet specific quality or National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) requirements. 

·Other projects and duties as assigned.


Associate or Bachelor's degree; demonstrated experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Required Experience

Two years' technical writing experience.  One year project management experience.  Proficiency in Microsoft Word.

Preferred Experience

Experience in a health care delivery setting (managed care organization, regulatory agency or health insurer).  Knowledge of Medicare and/or Medicaid.  Knowledge of Associated Press Stylebook guidelines.
