ASSOCIATE DIGITAL WEB EDITOR AND CONTENT CURATOR


Twin Cities PBS is seeking a part-time, temporary Associate Digital Web Editor and Content Curator to work approximately 30 hours a week with our Minnesota Remembers Vietnam team. This Minnesota Remembers Vietnam position will leverage digital design tools to facilitate a broad story-telling effort that will grow our story collections, engage audiences, and create a visually compelling interactive story wall. The qualified candidates will have a passion for community engagement, digital storytelling and a desire to work in public media. This position is grant based and will be funded from June 2017 until early Spring 2018.


Position Requirements:

  •  Research and assist in seeking new stories and content that adds to the conversation and answering community questions around how to submit stories or content.
  •  Assist in copy editing, selecting art, and aggregating interactive content for Story Wall.
  •  Upload and maintain content in WordPress CMS, embedding videos, graphics, photos, stories, sponsored content teases and around-the web links.
  •  Write compelling copy (including teaser descriptions, headlines, subheads and tags) that can maximize audience engagement and size. Follow the site style guidelines and effective SEO practices.
  •  Support distribution of Minnesota Remembers Vietnam content to media partners.
  •  Ensure the timely flow of copy from submission to publication.
  •  Manage and help prioritize our content backlog (stories, uploading photos, entering journal entries, etc.).
  •  Create content for social media.
  •  Collaborate with Digital Team to identify enhancements to user experience and opportunities to increase user engagement.
  •  Work closely with staff on coordination, content integration and promotion.
  •  Work flexibly in a matrix business structure requiring communication and interaction with multimedia platforms (print, broadcast, events, social), audience development/marketing, creative services, operations, online and product development, and marketing.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

  •  Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  •  2+ years of applicable web design, digital publishing and editing experience.
  •  2+ years of experience working with WordPress, Adobe Photoshop, Google Analytics, MS Office, and social media tools.
  •  Passionate about creating visual story-telling and able to synthesize media elements into a rich, impactful and interactive user-experience.
  •  Ability to understand the project’s legal requirements around digital story-sharing, contributor’s rights, and the parameters around editing for context.
  •  Proven experience moving quickly and accurately in a digital media environment.
  •  Ability to collaborate in a small-team setting with an “all hands on deck” attitude and flexibility.
  •  Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  •  Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  •  Ability to successfully handle details with accuracy in a fast-paced setting.
