Summary: 

This position is responsible for cost accounting in a combined project-oriented professional services and job-shop manufacturing (primarily printing) environment.  Responsibilities include the development and maintenance of systems, processes and information related to internal and external accounting and reporting, planning and analysis across individual customer projects, business unit and functional cost and profit centers, bid and proposal support, inventory accounting and control, management reports, monthly account reconciliations and annual audits.

 

 

Essential Position Responsibilities:

Full responsibility for the establishment and maintenance of direct labor and overhead costing structures and rates across multiple professional services entities, and cost and profit centersFull responsibility for the development and maintenance of costing rates related to the production of inventoried materials (primarily printed materials)Full responsibility for the development and maintenance of the financial systems supporting labor, material and overhead costing and planning (project cost, bid/proposal, production costing)Full responsibility for completion of monthly account and variance analysis and reconciliations including research, problem solving, and resolution of all outstanding itemsAssist with the maintenance of other relate systems, including timekeeping and project resource management, and general ledger, including system upgradesSupport the development and maintenance of internal cost allocation methods, processes and reports used to support project, product and business unit profitability analysisSupport budgeting, planning, and periodic financial analysis and reporting of assigned cost and/or profit centersMaintain and distribute monthly financial reporting packets, ensuring data is accurate and reports are meeting business partners’ needsEnsure the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of monthly journal entries related to labor, overhead, inventory and transfersAssist in cross-training of knowledge to ensure consistent and accurate costing methodologies are maintained and understood in the various functional groupsFollow and implement plans from senior management regarding work prioritiesOther projects as assigned 

 

 

 

Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and 10 years experience in cost accounting for a comparable size manufacturing/service entityStrong knowledge and experience with project cost accounting principles and practices in a professional services business environment.Experience with cost accounting principles and practices in a job-shop manufacturing environmentGood knowledge of US GAAP and willingness to research and resolve accounting applicationsProgressive experience in accounting with total knowledge of journal entries, P&L, balance sheet, product and project cost accountingExcellent written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills with a customer service focusHigh degree of demonstrated experience and literacy with ERP, costing, planning and reporting systems, spreadsheet, and database tools

Physical Requirements: 

Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hour periods of timeAbility to look at a computer monitor, utilize a keyboard and/or mouse for up to 8 hours per dayAbility to lift up to 20 pounds as necessary
