Adjunct Lecturer - Physics
The Department of Physics invites applicants for a temporary, part-time adjunct faculty position beginning on September 6, 2017.
Responsibilities: Primary responsibility is teaching PHYS 2250, Modern Physics. Students in this course are physics majors and minors. Typical enrollment is 5 – 10 students. Prerequisites include PHYS 1110 and 1120 (calculus based physics I and II) as well as Calculus I and Calculus II. Concurrent registration in Calculus III is recommended. Lectures are held 8:15 - 9:20 AM, MWF starting Sept. 6th. Finals week is the week of Dec. 18th. Lab section schedule is 8:00 - 10:00 AM, Tuesdays.
• Design interactive lectures/activities for each class period.
• Teach weekly lab sections by either designing new or modifying current labs using available equipment.
• Set up/tear down labs in coordination with other professors.
• Hold office hours at least 2 hours per week.
• Grade homework, tests, daily assignments, and other assignments as assigned.
• Keep D2L course website up to date with all required class materials.
• Assign grades and monitor student progress.
Requirements: Master's Degree in Physics is required, Ph.D. preferred. Two years of physics teaching experience preferred.
