Enter Target Corporation (TGT) imports shipments directly with U.S. Customs and Partner Government Agencies (PGAs).  Clear shipments in compliance with all Customs and PGA laws and regulations, internal policies, and within the required Level of service (LOS).  Resolve issues preventing customs clearance and communicate entry status to the appropriate personnel.  Review customs entries for accuracy and make corrections as necessary. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Document Verification:  Ensures that documents required by Customs and TGT have been provided by the vendors and are in the proper format.  Verifies that commercial document descriptions are detailed, accurate and consistent with TGT data.   Confirms that valuation, item quantity, and all other commercial document details are correct and consistent.
2. Customs Entry:  Enters and transmits entry data via the ABI system to U.S. Customs and PGAs.  Follows through with agencies to ensure all required and requested documentation has been supplied, and a release of the entry has been received.  When shipment is designated for a customs or PGA exam, make arrangements with internal partners and Target Corporation's nominated de-consolidator/trans-load agent to ensure freight is made available for examination.
3. Complex entries: Apply understanding of compliance and regulations pertaining to U.S. Customs and Partner Government Agencies such as Food & Drug Administration, Fish & Wildlife Services, Consumer Product Services Commission, and Foreign Trade Zones to manage exception freight.
4. Communication: When shipments have cleared Customs and any applicable PGAs, ensures communication of the release to Target Corporation's nominated de-consolidator/trans-load agent as quickly and efficiently as possible, as well as to the appropriate personnel in Merchandising, Transportation, etc.  Accountable for timely entry notes in all systems.
5. Record Retention:  Retains all records in accordance with U.S. Customs regulations and TGT internal policies.
• Post Entry:  Ensures Customs rejects are reviewed and corrected timely.  Consults with U.S. Customs as appropriated.  Processes entry corrections as needed within LOS and ensures GTB entry writers review and correct entries as needed. Role may require ensuring Customs duties are adjusted and reconciled.
• Problem Resolution:  Takes necessary steps to resolve all issues preventing the clearance of specific shipments, potentially including cost discrepancies, exams, and holds.  Works closely with Customs, government agencies (i.e.: FDA, etc.), vendors, merchants, etc. in order to clarify the issue and follow the steps necessary to release the shipment.   
• Special Projects:  Participates in other duties, procedure updates, committee assignments, and special projects as assigned. Shares information and may act as subject matter expert for GTB.REPORTING/WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Manager of Target Customs Brokers.  Maintains a strong and positive working relationship with merchants, vendors, and agents.  Works closely with various levels of Target's supply chain organization and other Target Corporation personnel, and in some cases US Customs and partner government agencies.  JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to build and maintain cross-functional partnership
• Working knowledge of systems such as Excel and Word
• Four year college degree
• Importing or brokerage experience
• Knowledge of U.S. Customs and Partner Government Agencies
