TAKE THE LEAD AS A SR PACKAGING PLANNERUse your skills, experience and talents to be a part of groundbreaking thinking and visionary goals.  Be the packaging expert in specific business cross-functional teams and within Marketing. Lead category level packaging work, gather and understand packaging trends, competition and market influences.  Have a fundamental understanding of what will make the business successful. Interpret/synthesize business and guest needs to determine packaging levers to pull to deliver on the objective. Develop the strategy and frame the creative work to come. Effectively collaborate with key cross-functional partners to identify and drive strategic initiatives that support Target owned brand business. Develop solutions that address current or future business opportunities, while keeping the guest at the center of all strategic decisions. Simplify complex information from both internal and external sources in order to deliver effective messages, tailored to a variety of audiences.
  • Lead packaging efforts across limited categories, including establishing priorities and evaluating requests
  • Establish packaging budget; be active in planning process and identify potential budgetary risks
  • Seek out and synthesize packaging insights from Guest Center of Excellence, the market, vendors and competition for designated categories 
  • Gather inputs, author and secure approvals for all  project briefs & channel assignments
  • Lead and manage all high level and detailed concept work for specified categories
  • Take appropriate partners to help define and shape brand positioning to packaging work
  • Act as the face of Packaging to business partners; building strong connections and relationships. Participate in relevant business/packaging meetings
  • Develop an understanding of business needs and lead packaging partners to set a strategy and identify relevant packaging solutions 
  • Establish direction for cycle/transition work and lead all strategic aspects of packaging and/or brand development (BSR, Cycle/Transition Strategy Kickoff, Messaging Meeting, Detailed Concept KO, etc.)
  • Understands all key packaging partner roles; takes appropriate partners throughout development phases
  • Provides POV on resolving packaging issues and problems in specific categories.  Partner with packaging leaders as appropriate
  • Collaborate with the PMs throughout the packaging process through consistent exchange of information and updates
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Four or five years of work experience, preferably in Marketing
  • Able to apply strong strategic, problem-solving and analytical skills to knowledge of marketplace, guest and category trends
  • Demonstrate accountability in managing resources and budget
  • Effective verbal and written communication across a variety of settings and audiences
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse partners, lead and contribute in a team environment and maintain focus on highest-priorities
