LEAD ENGINEER - MONITORING ANALYTICS We are the Monitoring product team that is developing innovative ways to enable operational visibility at Target.  Product teams across all of Target use our monitoring offerings to ensure Target's technology products enable a delightful guest experience.  These teams generate copious amounts of high resolution time series and log data.  We are looking for your help to turn this data into actionable insight so that Target's technologies can live up to our guests' high expectations. You'll work directly with product teams to help them understand their data and also help build massively saleable, elegant monitoring products.  If you're excited to work on a fast-moving, tightly knit team with the best open-source data tools at a crazy-high scale, we want to meet you. Here's a smattering of approaches important to us, and the technologies we use:
  • Customer input drives our decisions
  • Everything we do is “as-code” in version control. We don't like clicking buttons or doing things manually.
  • All changes go through a pull-request process, so you'll always have a way to thumbs up or down things you catch.
  • Everything should have test cases and go through a continuous integration process
  • Some technologies which are critical to the work we do: the elastic stack, Telegraf, InfluxDB, Grafana, GitHub, Drone, Artifactory, Chef, Spinnaker, OpenStack, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, and Kafka
Target's Monitoring Team Wants Your Help To:
  • Work with our customers on how to apply monitoring offerings within their tech stacks and help them turn data into knowledge to enable operational visibility so that well-informed actions can be taken at speed and scale.
  • Design and implement enhancements to our monitoring data pipelines leveraging technologies such as the elastic stack, Telegraf, InfluxDB, Kafka and Grafana.
  • Design and implement monitors and dashboards of the monitoring product #eatyourowndogfood
  • Design and implement enhancements to our continuous deployment pipeline using GitHub, Drone, Artifactory, Chef and Spinnaker
  • Design and implement a monitoring product that works seamlessly across cloud, on premise, and distributed environments
