Privacy and Data Protection Analyst

Position Description:

The Privacy and Data Protection Analyst reports to the Chief Privacy Officer and assists the Privacy and Data Protection Office with the implementation and monitoring of the privacy and data protection program for Samsung’s North American affiliates. This role will be based in Ridgefield Park, NJ and may require travel to other Samsung offices in North America.


Position Responsibilities:

Assist the Privacy and Data Protection Office,  which covers all North American Samsung affiliates, in driving compliance with all policies, frameworks and contractual requirements as well as all applicable laws and regulations relating to privacy and data protection; Oversee Privacy and Data Protection policies and procedures including annual issuance of relevant workforce training; planning and executing risk assessments to identify privacy and data protection related risks, control deficiencies, and compliance issues; drafting and updating privacy and data protection documentation; Monitor emerging legislation and regulation related to privacy and data, recommend policy change as necessary; Provide subject matter expertise to clients regarding innovation in order to enable compliance with privacy and data protection requirements; Assist with the development of testing protocols and related reporting; proactively devise solutions for privacy issues found in testing; Evangelize and embed “Privacy by Design” principles is business’ innovation and data products; Develop, communicate and ensure adherence to department risk policies, procedures and best practices; Foster an environment of regulatory awareness and ensure regulatory compliance; Demonstrate and embed the privacy behaviors and competencies that create a risk management mindset within the organization; and Support and monitor ongoing staff education and development in effective privacy and data security risk management. Experience:

  • 2-4 years of broad privacy and data protection, compliance or legal experience working for a multinational organization.
  • Strong technology acumen and the ability to assess privacy gaps in products/services design
  • Moderate understanding of information security governance frameworks and related controls.
  • Project management skills as well as process development background.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex Data Protection and Privacy laws and regulations;
  • Ability to be able to multi task, complete projects on time and adjust to changing priorities;
  • Strong analytical skills particularly in regard to assessing the probability and impact of an internal control weakness;
  • Self-starter who is highly motivated and can operate with minimum supervision.  

    Education, Training or Certification:

  • Juris Doctor desirable; licensed to practice law in good standing
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), and/or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) / are highly desirable.
