Pro Staff is looking for a Payroll Accountant on the South West side of Houston. An ideal candidate will be focused on preparing journal entries resulting from payroll runs to the GL. Reconciling all of the related liability GL accounts. Working with Benefits in resolving any discrepancies between payroll and funding of benefits. Providing information to various departments for operational decision making. Works closely with Store Ops to provide accurate payroll data for decision making and payroll/workforce planning.
We are seeking someone that has the ability to dig into details, is proactive about identifying problems and solution oriented. We would like to promote autonomy in the role with minimal supervision and have someone that can easily fit in with an entrepreneurial spirit.
• BA in Accounting with 2+ years of experience
• GL experience (journal entry preparation, accruals, reconciliations, variance analysis)
• ADP experience (pulling GL entries, running reports) is a big plus
• Proper reporting to the GL of payroll expense, all payroll liabilities, reconciliation of clearing accounts, garnishments
• Oracle experience is a plus
• Big 4 experience a plus
• Good communication skills (both oral and written) – will need to work with Benefits/HR to resolve issues, timely and accurately
o Benefits related accounting (HSA, FSA, 401K)
o Comfortable around senior leadership (SVP HR, Payroll Manager, Benefits Manager, etc.)
