Mazopiya Grocery Department Lead

Plan and manage the department to promote sales and achieve profit margins and labor goals. Contribute towards ensuring a positive shopping environment for customers and a positive working environment for employees.
Manages controllable costs by educating team on procedures for reducing inventory shrink, managing salary, cash, margin objectives and day-to-day operational expenses. Monitors assets through accurate inventory management procedures.
Welcomes, serves and assists customers to provide excellent customer service in the department. Responds to and resolves customer inquiries and concerns while maintaining high level of customer service.
Leads department employees to ensure efficient labor utilization and effectiveness in meeting department objectives. Effectively communicates tasks and priorities. Follows up to ensure proper task completion and adheres to store and department policies and procedures.
Manages department receiving, invoicing, pricing and inventory to ensure proper product control and that gross profit goals are met. Maintains proper in-stock for all shelf and promotional items. Ensures proper receiving procedures are adhered to at all times; this includes delivery to the store, storage, stocking, and holding on the sales floor.
Ensures all employees are properly trained in equipment use, maintenance and sanitation standards, proper lifting and all related safety rules and procedures.
Follows all merchandising guidelines, including display models, signage and product packaging.
Performs stock duties, ensuring correct placement of stock and refilling of product.
Monitors the temperature of coolers and freezers to maintain freshness of products.
Responsible Manager On Duty providing quality customer service, making quality decisions while keeping within policies and procedures. Coaches department staff on policies, procedures, customer service and job responsibilities.
Interviews, selects, hires and promotes team members; plans training and development in conjunction with Human Resources Development and completes performance appraisals, disciplinary actions and terminations.
Works with Marketing department on monthly basis to advertise department.
Oversees monthly demo scheduling with vendors. Conducts educational produce classes.
- Make schedule for department based on sales goals and lean budgets.
- Combination of post secondary education and retail experience to equal three years.
- Exceptional communications skills; ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, to a variety of audiences.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, decision making and leadership skills.
- Basic knowledge in word-processing, spreadsheets, presentation, and electronic mail software.
- Ability to pass basic math and problem-solving test.
This position will be a combination of two shifts:
First: 6am - 1pm
Second: 12pm - 8pm
