Position Summary Information Position Responsibilities

St. Catherine University, St. Paul, seeks a fulltime Financial Analyst in our Business Office. This position will serve as a financial/budget analyst to support the Provost, Deans, Chairs and Program Directors in the Academic Affairs division. The Academic Affairs Financial Analyst will track business processes, monitor budgets for all academic organization budgets, provide monthly oversight and reconciliation of the general academic budget organizations and be the primary contact for Academic Affairs personnel in appropriately stewarding budget allocations and developing academic budgets and projections. This position reports to the Director of Budget and Planning and provides analytical reports for the Provost throughout the year and especially in the Annual Budget and Salary Planner development phase of each budget year. The Academic Affairs Financial Analyst will be involved in directly engaging in collaboration with internal and external resources in support of stated goals for Academic Affairs and the core mission of the university.


Responsibilities:
• Manage the Academic Affairs division annual budget process and provide an advisory resource/analyst for Provost in the financial implications of ongoing strategic planning
• Develop reports using the Universities report writing tool (Argos); Collaborate with the Business Office for reports and budgets needed for gift/grant recoups
• Access all academic budgets and salary data including monthly division and organization reports.
• Model Return on Investment evaluations to analyze program viability and progress
• Collaborate with Dir. of Budget and Planning and HR in all Banner budget phases {i.e. development (BGT), 1Time and Salary Planner] to build the new FY expense & revenue budgets for the academic division
• Coordinate the approval process with Deans Council for Capital and Non-Capital funding in the academic division (annual non-cap approval letters to departments and tracking/ approval for non-cap POs)
• Oversee all data entry for FTE and salary changes for the division for the new fiscal year
• Collaborate with the Director of ORSP and the Grant accountant in the Business Office to identify budget implications of grants and gifts each fiscal year
• Monitor personnel budgets for contract salary changes/search requests in coordination with the Faculty Contracts Office
• Facilitate the analysis of budgets with Chairs & Directors identifying variance for all Academic Affairs cost center/organizations with corrective action proposed to Academic Deans/Provost
• Provide a resource for academic committees in new program budget development and projections
• Assist with data collection for various external surveys related to budget and faculty compensation
• Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications


Qualifications:
• Minimum of Bachelor's degree in a Business related field (Accounting, Finance, etc.) and 3-5 years' experience in budget, financial planning and analysis and report writing/business intelligence required
• Strong business problem solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Process and procedural development especially related to technology
• Experience with database maintenance and data integrity
• Ability to work independently and in concert with others
• Understanding and respect for confidentiality is required
• Experience working in Higher Education, working with Banner or other integrated higher education software and/or with ALIGHT financial software and ARGOS report writer desired
