3M Company has an opportunity for a Global Application Solutions Technical Supervisor at our facility in St. Paul, Minnesota. The primary duty of the Global Application Solutions Technical Supervisor is to lead a global team to drive growth through collaborations with customers and external industry experts to implement purification solutions for the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry based on the innovative integration of multiple differentiated 3M product platforms. This position requires a Ph.D. or equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biochemical Engineering, or related field, plus five (5) years of related experience. Experience must include three (3) years of experience, which may be concurrent, in all of the following: (1) developing new cell culture protocols, bioreactor clarification, chromatography, and membrane filtration applications by understanding customer processes and pharmaceutical product requirements then formulating and demonstrating innovative purification processes; (2) serving as a technical expert capable of influencing industry leaders and establishing new paradigms for the production scale purification of pharmaceuticals by utilizing knowledge of state-of-the-art industry biological cell culture processes, bioreactor clarification, chromatography mechanisms, membrane filtration, viral clearance, in the scope of an integrated and optimized biochemical production operation; (3) developing appropriate intellectual property (IP) portfolio protection plans and strategy for potential proprietary positions related to cell culture protocols, bioreactor clarification, chromatography and membrane filtration applications in the production of therapeutic proteins and vaccines; (4) applying in-depth knowledge of the integration of bio and synthetic materials and bioengineering, specifically laboratory skills related to biological production and analysis; 5) performing the following techniques/instrumentation and processes: cell culture (mammalian, bacteria and/or viral); protein analysis assays and gel electrophoresis; and design of experiments and statistical analysis. This position requires travel (domestic and international) 25% of the time.
