Summary: Under limited supervision, provides diverse administrative support to a corporate tax department of a large insurance company

Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED required; tax or accounting experience preferred
2-4 years experience

Skills and Competencies: Strong knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
Ability to quickly understand company standards, policies, and guidelines.
Ability to self-start and work independently.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Strong communication, analytical, and inter-personal skills, as well as excellent grammar, punctuation, spelling and proofreading abilities.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain department due date calendars, schedule meetings, and track incoming correspondence.
Prepare certified mail receipts, including labels, obtaining postage from internal post office, and making post office runs for timely mailing stamps.
Coordinate signatures for tax filings.
Make payment requests for tax returns and departmental expenses.
Open, sort, prioritize and distribute mail.
Monitor incoming mail for notices, route notices to appropriate individuals, scan notices to network, track notices on workbook, and ensure notices are responded to in a timely manner.
Assist in drafting responses to some notices.
Coordinate departmental intern interviews.
Track Powers of Attorney.
Assist with tax authority audits.
Apply for residency certificates for affiliated companies.
Assist with special projects as required.
