QA Test Engineer (Contract)

Location: Eden Prairie, MN
This is a contract role.


We are looking for a Test Engineer who will develop and execute test plans and test cases for printers, drivers and associated software that deal with printing and encoding cards.  You will be a core member of the engineering team responsible for an end-to-end test solution that validates the functionality, performance, reliability, security and compatibility of our industry leading card issuance systems (hardware and software).   

Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

- Review functional and design specifications to ensure full understanding of individual deliverables.
- Identify test requirements from specifications, map test case requirements and design test coverage plan.
- Develop, document, maintain functional test cases and other test artifacts like the test data, data validation, manual, and automated scripts.
- Execute and evaluate manual or automated test cases and report test results.
- Hold and facilitate test plan/case reviews with cross-functional team members.
- Identify any potential quality issues per defined process and escalate potential quality issues immediately to management.
- Ensure that validated deliverables meet functional and design specifications and requirements.
- Isolate, replicate, and report defects and verify defect fixes.
- Continually improve the quality of the company's software and hardware products through the creation, execution, and maintenance of comprehensive test strategy, test plans and test cases.

Qualifications :

- Working knowledge of source code management and configuration
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, including design, architecture, and implementation
- Proven analytical, planning, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both a technical and non-technical audience; comfortable with direct communication with all levels of technical and business resources
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and respond to shifting priorities
- Demonstrated hands-on approach to problem solving

Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent software testing experience
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant QA technical experience 
- 3+ years testing mechanical devices with embedded firmware.
- Expertise in testing devices with embedded firmware including designing and manipulating test data
- Expertise in testing software and hardware solutions.  
- Expertise in developing, maintaining and executing manual and automated test scripts that interact with software and hardware.

Language Skills:
- Ability to effectively communicate in the English language verbally and in writing.
- Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specifications, international technical standards, etc. 

Computer Skills     

- Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Familiar with operating systems, such as Windows, etc.
