JOB DESCRIPTION/HUMAN RESOURCES                                                                                

POSITION TITLE:            Director of HR Operations

REPORTS TO:                 Vice President of Human Resources

COMPENSATION:          Exempt                                                                                    

PRIMARY PURPOSE:  Oversees the Compensation, Payroll, Benefits, HR Data Management, Recruitment and Generalist functions within TCF’s Human Resources organization. This individual serves a critical role in managing day-to-day activities, workflow, and tools for these core HR functions. This individual is a key member of the HR Leadership Team, contributing to the strategic direction and formulation of corporate-wide HR policies, procedures, systems, and initiatives. Ensuring operational excellence and efficiency within Operations including a collaborative relationship with all key business unit stakeholders, centers of excellence; counterparts in corporate and other business unit roles; and provide a supportive and growth oriented environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Benefits:

  • Lead the development and execution of TCF’s global benefits strategy
  • Evaluate current benefits programs, conduct research on trends, technologies, and make recommendations for changes and improvements in alignment with company philosophy and to retain market competitiveness across the globe
  • Provide guidance to the Benefit Analyst in managing the ongoing administration of employee benefit plans
  • Provide guidance to the Benefit Analyst in managing the annual open enrollment period from planning stages through implementation of plan changes and individual enrollment elections
  • Serve as the escalation point for day-to-day benefit activities including claims resolution, eligibility guidelines, employee assistance, and invoice reconciliation
  • Assure thorough audits, reports and personal contact that company benefit programs are consistently administered in compliance with company policies and government regulations
  • Track and address benefits-related concerns and identify trends and major issues to be addressed
  • Provide guidance to the Benefit Analyst in managing leave of absence process, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policy

Payroll:

  • Lead the payroll team that manages the payroll function for TCF multi-location, 1500 employees
  • Overall responsibility for payroll system functionality, administration and complex payroll processing, and serve as escalation point for all payroll related questions and issues beyond the Payroll Manager

Compensation:

  • Lead TCF’s global compensation programs, including annual merit review and bonus process, by developing compensation strategies, solutions and associated communications to attract and retain talent
  • Evaluate current compensation programs, conduct research on trends, and make recommendations for changes and improvements to ensure market competitiveness across the globe
  • Provide expertise to the HR Team on day-to-day compensation issues including salary recommendations, pay decisions, and policy and guideline interpretations
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal and global laws governing compensation and incentive practices

Data Management:

  • Lead the HRIS  Analyst  in data management and processes transactions within HRIS
  • Analyze current HR systems and lead RFP process, selection and implementation of new systems Manages delivery of HRIS support, through the HRIS Analyst, to HR Business Partners, for reporting needs to manage people cost budgeting and on-going tracking/forecasting 
  • Establish and maintain common HR data management policies and procedures that leverage best practices, ensure internal and regulatory compliance, and drive operational efficiency
  • Provide guidance and best practices in the preparation of monthly, quarterly or special reports, ensuring reliable, trustworthy, and meaningful data

Recruitment:

  • Lead Strategy to recruit top talent throughout the global organization
  • Oversee processes and procedures to ensure effectiveness of recruitment efforts
  • Assist in recruitment of senior leadership positions

Leadership:

  • Build and maintain a strong HR Operations team, providing leadership through regular coaching and feedback sessions
  • Oversee Payroll and HR transactional processes and direct activities of employees performing those functions
  • Prioritize projects and activities and appropriately delegate and allocate work among staff members
  • Work collaboratively with members of the broader Human Resources team to ensure consistency of methods and applications. Provide project leadership within the broader HR team
  • Support larger HR initiatives by ensuring continuity and successful delivery of functional services
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business or other related field (Required)
  • Graduate / Master's Degree in Human Resources, Business or other related field (Preferred)
  • Certifications/Licensures: Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Certified
  • Experience implementing HR systems highly preferred
  • Minimum 10 years human resources management experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • 2 + years’ experience managing global benefits and payroll programs
  • 2 + years managing compensation programs
  • 2 + years’ experience with HCMS systems, basic HR measurement, and process improvement techniques
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Multi-task management skills
  • Team minded and positive in all interactions with employees at all levels of the organization

  • Standard office environment
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach
  • Ability to work extended hours sitting at a computer
