Join us as a Sr. Manager - In Store Checkout Engineering!As a Sr. Manager you will lead an engineering team in an agile environment developing and supporting hardware and OS technology that enables Target's checkout capability.  You will be responsible for providing guidance to engineers and making relevant technology solution decisions to drive the platform forward.  The key to the success of this position is having a strong & innovative approach to problem solving, great technical leadership, excellent communication (written and verbal, formal and informal), flexibility, and a self-motivated working style with attention to detail.Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive best practices and ensure development of high quality solutions/technologies through advocating for and ensuring standards for common assets and framework components
  • Determine the right technology choices (hardware selection, upgrade decisions, hosting decisions) to best deliver business value keeping in mind availability, scalability, reliability of solution and cost of ownership
  • Responsibilities include managing the development and implementation of infrastructure initiatives; reviewing schematics, diagrams, and other documentation to assist with development and preparation of cost estimates; providing integrated systems planning and technology recommendations; managing compute and POS end point solutions to ensure successful fulfillment of end-user requirements; ensuring internal and provider SLAs are met
  • Build and manage a team of high caliber engineers and inform on resource allocation strategy
  • Drive resolution of technology roadblocks including code, infrastructure, infra-code, build and deployment and drive accountability by working with key customers and meeting delivery dates
  • Manage cross-product technical dependencies and drive resolutions to conflicts
  • Advocate for and ensure standards around technologies, frameworks, design patterns, processes and guiding values of the domain architecture
  • Ensure infrastructure adheres to all development & security standards
  • Develop product evolution roadmaps
  • Identify and assess technology trends and articulate technology recommendations
  • Manage team and project financials in order to drive to the lowest cost solution
  • Experience working in an agile environment (e.g. user stories, iterative development, etc)
  • 8+ years of engineering experience
  • Experience operating small to medium scale Windows & Unix based systems
  • Proven ability to execute large scale complicated projects
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership
  • Experience with infrastructure automation/infrastructure as code
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to variety of audiences
  • BS degree in computer science or equivalent
  • 3+ years of managing teams with a strong track record of  delivery for cross-functional products
  • Technical knowledge and background in infrastructure engineering, architecture and build practices to support compute and POS device environments - plus additional role-specific technical skills as required
  • Experience with API development
  • Good knowledge of open source frameworks
  • Team-orientated, passionate about developing others' skills and capabilities
  • Proven track record of building and managing high performing technical teams with an emphasis on scaling them to meet the demands of a fast paced environment
  • Good understanding of agile development processes and methodology; including continuous integration and continuous delivery practices
  • Strong sense of ownership and problem solving skills
