The Director of Data Center drives the overall technology vision and strategy for Target's data centers. He/she is expected to lead talent development for the team and ensure the development, acquisition, and retention of top technical talent.  He/she will also interface with senior management across the company and will lead and develop a team of Senior Managers and engineers for our data center environment.Role + Responsibilities:Lead the Data Center organization
  • Partner with senior leaders across Target in multiple locations to create a technology strategy that enables technology-related business objectives
  • Work at operational and executive levels to understand business drivers, market requirements, and competitive issues that may impact technology strategies
  • Lead migration efforts across all of TTS to ensure stability of systems and modernization of technology
  • Work with lead vendors and service providers to adapt and adopt best solution for Target
  • Develop strong partnership with infrastructure executives to ensure services meet their needs
  • Stay ahead and respond to major technology changes
  • Update data centers to support long term viability
Drive TTS transformation and modernization initiatives
  • Act as a change agent to enable, empower and inspire technology teams to collaboratively create solutions to drive Target's growth
  • Foster a culture of agility, speed to market, continuous improvement, calculated risk-taking, and innovation in development
  • Lead modernization efforts
Lead and manage a global team
  • Create/evolve vision for technology solutions; communicate, inspire and align technology leaders and teams to execution of vision
  • Ability to understand, advocate and communicate company objectives, vision and strategy to team members and senior management
  • Provide leadership, coaching, motivation and assistance to managers and team members to ensure teamwork and high performance in the accomplishment of all responsibilities and projects
  • Set staffing needs and support recruiting strategy that is aligned with meeting business objectives
  • Support team member training to ensure team members are functioning at their optimal level of performance

  • Champion adoption of new methodologies and values (Agile, DevOps)
Minimum Requirements
  • BA/BS or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 15 years of IT experience within a complex, high-transaction business environment
  • Possess a thorough conceptual and operational understanding of all aspects of data center operations
  • Experience in hosting, co-location and leasing of facilities and data center services
  • Proven experiences leading major corporate IT teams, success in building high performing teams, and use of IT as a competitive enabler
  • Experience building and leading Agile teams
  • Experience in managing a large contractor footprint with familiarity and experience in moving resources from contractor to employee
  • Strong leadership and team building skills
  • History of strong leadership focused on a collaborative, results-oriented culture; visionary thought leadership.  A proven team player who will build a collaborative environment.
  • Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education.
  • Ability to convey technical solutions clearly to the entire organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for communicating effectively at the highest levels of management
  • Experience managing budgets with multiple cost centers
Desired Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Computer Science or Computer/Electrical Engineering
  • Engineering and/or architectural experience preferred
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • Be available off-hours as needed
