Endowed Chair in Social Sciences with a Focus on Family Studies - Tenure Track Faculty
Full-time, open-rank position in in the social sciences with an emphasis on Family Studies. The Family Studies program has approximately 60 majors and 25 minors; faculty and courses from Psychology, Sociology, Communication and Journalism, Social Work, Health, and others contribute to the program. The position begins in Fall 2018.
The teaching load for the chair will be two courses per semester and will include both Family Studies courses as well as courses in the candidate's home discipline. The Chair is also expected to serve as Director of the program and to develop co-curricular programming to support it as a result of the reduced teaching load (typically three-three).
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in psychology, sociology, or family studies. Candidates with a Ph.D. in communication with expertise in Family communication will also be considered. We are looking for scholar-teachers who are committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and who can demonstrate scholarly productivity and promise for ongoing research in their field.
