Responsible for transportation operations for five perishable food distribution centers in the United States totaling $100 million to $150 million and servicing 1000+ stores.  Collaborates with Group Operations Directors, District Team Leaders and other key leadership in the stores organization to ensure high level of service.  Partners with carriers, vendors, HQ and third party provider leadership as necessary in order to minimize transportation expense and maximize efficiency. Maintains active working relationships with multiple Distribution Center Leadership Teams.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Develops safety culture and holds team accountable to routines and processes that drive a safe environment in the yard, at our stores and over the road.
2. Provides direction to the Field Logistics teams so they contribute to the overall successful movement of freight throughout their geographic area of responsibility.  Continuously gathers input and enlists support in developing outbound and guest delivery options to drive precision, service and cost. 
3. Sets appropriate priorities for self and work teams.  Structures activities and resources for self and work teams to maximize speed and results; plans proactively to avoid crisis; handles unavoidable crises effectively.  Provides oversight and guidance to teams in order to achieve key performance metrics.
4. Ability to understand key operational processes across FDC types and lead the team to continually improve those processes.
5. Supports and manages efficient supply chain processes through communication, execution of special events, realignments, new store openings and HQ driven initiatives.  Responsible for maintaining key relationships with internal and external business partners.
6. Is proactive in identifying, developing and implementing action plans to obtain and sustain Best Practices for efficient FDC, carrier, and equipment operations.
7. Active role with Senior Director's and Leadership Teams in multiple buildings to include talent management and leadership activities.
8. Direct liaison between DC Senior Leadership, HQ Transportation and Stores leadership concerning all aspects of the Target food supply chain.REPORTING/WORKING RELATIONSHIPSReports to the Regional Logistics Director, Middle Mile Transportation.  Communicates,  coordinates and supports the food supply chain strategy working closely with FDC Senior Directors, Senior Operations Managers, Group Operations Leaders, District Team Leaders and headquarters transportation leaders. JOB REQUIREMENTSMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:• Bachelors Degree
• 5+ years of leadership experience
• Excellent communication skills

• Strong analytical skills
• FMSA knowledge and understanding
• DOT/FMCSA knowledge and understanding
• Travel up to 50%DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:• Six Sigma/LEAN Certification
• Strong negotiating skills
• Advanced Degree in Supply Chain
• Retail/Transportation experience
• Third party/Vendor management
