Salary: Starts at $24.26 to $27.99 per hour, depending upon qualifications
Location: City Center (8080 Mitchell Road, Eden Prairie, MN 55344)
Hours: Typical hours will be 8:30am- 5:00pm (varies based on business need and will require some on-call availability)

Information Technology Division
The Information Technology (IT) Division delivers information services, information technology and telecommunication services to City staff to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of City services. This division is responsible for the operations and support of the City's servers, business applications and network infrastructure that provides connectivity for 15 remote locations and over 400 computing devices. IT also delivers and supports the City's eGovernment initiative and handles all forms of electronic communications such as e-mail and voicemail.
The Information Technology Technician supports the IT division, city staff, and the public by performing help desk functions and providing technical support to users or customers of IT. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are:
- Provides personal computer and mobile computer support including technical maintenance, troubleshooting, installation of hardware/software/peripherals, and set up of equipment.
- Provides additional technical support, set-up, and installation for customers using office and audio-visual equipment such as phones, printers, faxes, copiers, projectors, and video.
- Performs record-keeping functions such as maintaining inventory information and preparing specifications for purchases. Organizes and delivers computer equipment.
- Provides daily application support to customers for their daily business operation, including responding to questions and concerns, troubleshooting software issues, delivering end user training, documenting software use, and creating customized reports.
- Assists with the maintenance of current software applications including upgrades/new releases, data migrations and conversions, analyzing software performance issues,;
- Assists in basic network administration such as VPN connections and backups.
- Stays up to date on current trends and future direction of the IT industry.
While these areas are the primary focus of the position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City.
Education: In pursuit of a technical degree (at least one year completed) or bachelor’s degree (generals completed) in related field required. Additional certificates and education as it relates to relevant systems preferred.
Work Experience: Previous experience with troubleshooting and setup of personal and mobile computers including the installation, set-up and repair of computer hardware and other related equipment required.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite of applications required. General knowledge of workstation maintenance, iOS and Android mobile devices required. General knowledge of basic network administration and system upgrades preferred.
Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to lift/pull/push/move/carry up to 50 lbs. with assistance, and the ability to bend/stand/kneel/reach.
