Associate LAN Administrator

The Office of the Minnesota Attorney General is accepting resumes for an entry level Associate LAN Administrator.  Applicants have the opportunity to be part of an office that makes a difference every day in the lives of Minnesota citizens.

Responsibilities:  Successful applicants will join a dedicated group of IT professionals who support Microsoft server infrastructure using HP servers and storage.  The primary responsibility is to provide support and backup the LAN Administrator on:

  • Implementing, supporting, and maintaining physical and virtual Microsoft Windows servers
  • Administering Microsoft Exchange email system
  • Network applications, including backup, security suite, and encryption solutions
  • Managing network storage devices
  • Performing server backup and restore
  • Providing comprehensive maintenance of servers, storage and tape backup systems
  • Maintaining LAN documentation
  • Login scripts and account maintenance
  • Providing advanced end-user support

Requirements:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of related experience desirable.  Microsoft certifications a plus.
  • Strong customer service and troubleshooting skills
  • Self-motivated and have strong analytical, problem solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing, complex projects and demands
  • Proficient in Microsoft servers and HP hardware support
  • Ability to write PowerShell scripts
  • Detail-oriented, with a strong work ethic
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Exchange, and SMS
