PLANT MANAGER
Doherty Staffing has teamed with a small animal food manufacturer in their search for a Plant Manager to oversee their Eden Valley, MN operations. The Plant Manager reports to the Director of Manufacturing and is responsible for the day to day operations of the production facility. This is a Direct Hire position with initial screening by Doherty. Our client offers a very competitive compensation package based on experience and skillset.

PLANT MANAGER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

o Manages all personnel and operations to ensure manufacture of product within standards of safety, quality, sanitation, environmental, budget, policies, procedures, and Federal and State laws.

o Develops and implements methods to improve manufacturing productivity; Delivers annual cost savings targets; Leverages continuous improvement methodologies/TPM to build team engagement and drive improvements.

o Develops operational knowledge of Ultra-Filtration system within 6 months of assuming role.

o Develops and implements plant annual operating budget.

o Develops a team environment in which members participate, cooperate with and support each other. Demonstrates a collaborative, can-do style.

o Trains and develops Managers and Team Leads; delegates responsibilities to designated personnel when away from the plant.

o Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment; prepares capital equipment expenditure requests and spending justifications.

o Assures that established policies, procedures, and work rules are understood and followed.

o Maintains a good relationship between the plant and the local community.

PLANT MANAGER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

o Bachelor's Degree or 10-15 years related work experience required. Degree in technical (engineering) discipline, preferred.

o 5-7 years leadership experience in food manufacturing (or equivalent) required; Operations Manager, small Plant Manager or similar experience, with both salaried and hourly direct reports, required. Supply Chain management experience within a manufacturing facility will be considered.

o Experience in poultry, egg industry, or membrane separation technology desirable.

o Additional desired skills: creating, promoting and maintaining safety programs; knowledge of statistical process control and manufacturing data collections systems/data analysis; knowledge of sanitation and QA programs; and working knowledge of mechanical principles and Preventive Maintenance programs.

o Works well with people. Is respected by peers, subordinates and upper management.

o Demonstrates high level of initiative and the ability to make correct decisions at the appropriate time.

o Exerts strong leadership ability. Knows how to get results through others via coaching, mentoring, utilization of accountability methods, and recognition. Not looking for the strongest individual contributor - candidates considered for this role must demonstrate how they have been able achieve outstanding results through others.

o Has excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

o Is cost effective and stewardly with company resources.

o Has the ability and drive to learn all of the functions and processes of the facility.

o Can follow, as well as give, directions. Displays an openness to feedback and personal improvement.

o Has an excellent work record, a positive attitude, high standards, and a neat and clean personal appearance.

o Is willing to work weekends and nights, as needed.

o Is willing to travel, as needed.
