Adjunct Professor - Biology Department
The Biology Department at St. Catherine University invites applications for a one-semester, adjunct instructor in our Behavior Ecology or Animal Behavior with Lab.
Responsibilities: The selected candidate will teach a course in either Behavior Ecology or Animal Behavior. The course may include an overview of animal behavior including behavioral development, physiological mechanisms of behavior, the adaptive value of behavior and the evolution of behavior – or could be focused more on behavioral ecology. Class periods are a mixture of lecture, discussion and small group work based on text readings and current behavioral literature. Laboratory focuses on developing skills in observation, description, measurement and analysis of behavior in a variety of animals - with some field work preferred. Course meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:55 - 11:35 am and the laboratory component of the course meets on Wednesdays from 1:30 - 4:30 pm.
Required qualifications: A minimum of an ABD in Biology and teaching experience is required. An earned Doctoral in Animal Behavior or Behavioral Ecology and/or teaching in Animal Behavior or Behavioral Ecology is preferred. All candidates must demonstrate evidence of a commitment to excellence in research and teaching.
